Doing good together with committed employees

With the help of dedicated employees, the Merching-based Forum Media Group supported two charitable projects in the region with a total of €1,650 in the run-up to Christmas this year: Back in November, the company took part in the “Gift with a Heart” campaign organized by the Allgäu aid organization Humedica, and in December, donations were collected for the Augsburg-based Bunter Kreis foundation, which cares for families with sick or disabled children, as part of the Christmas party. At the beginning of January, Managing Director Katrin Krauß-Herkert officially handed over the donation to Angelika Lang, Chairwoman of the Board of Bunter Kreis.

Sale of homemade items for a good cause

As part of the Christmas party to which the management of the Forum Media Group invited all employees at the Merching site on December 12, homemade items were sold for a good cause. In the run-up to the party, employees were asked to donate handicrafts and homemade items.

Thanks to the hard-working and talented employees, a wonderful selection was put together: Jewelry, Christmas arrangements, acrylic paintings, spiced salt, cookies, socks and much more. Colleagues were able to purchase these treasures for a contribution of their choice. Everyone could also try their own hand at crafting and make decorative stars from paper bags after giving a small donation.

The sale raised a total of €820 in donations for “Bunter Kreis”, a charitable organisation from the nearby city of Augsburg. The amount was topped up to €1,500 by the management. The Forum Media Group has already supported the “Bunte Kreis” on several occasions in the past, including a donation of €500 in the summer. Managing Director Katrin Krauß-Herkert was also able to see the work of the foundation at the Ziegelhof therapy center in Stadtbergen during the donation presentation and was deeply impressed.

Lovingly designed Christmas parcels

Back in November, Katrin Krauß-Herkert was able to hand over numerous artistically designed and festively decorated parcels to the parents’ council of Merching Elementary School. Every year, the school takes part in the “Gift with a Heart” campaign run by the aid organization Humedica. This involves packing Christmas parcels for needy children – mainly in Eastern and South-Eastern Europe.

Franziska Mayr, Chairwoman of the Parents’ Council and also an employee of Forum Verlag Herkert GmbH, one of the company’s Merching-based subsidiaries, asked the management if she could share a call for donations internally. Managing Director Katrin Krauß-Herkert liked the idea so much that she wanted to support the campaign and offered a grant of €10 for every package handed in.

Although the collection was called for at relatively short notice, many employees made the effort and packed a small Christmas parcel. A total of 14 parcels were collected. FORUM also contributed a package of its own. As most of them also decided to forgo the subsidy and prefer to donate it, the management made an additional donation of €150.
